Otoge-Real Sample Script
Visual Novel, Romantic, Slice of Life
Creator: Erika Acosta
My stomach grumbles as I tune out Kayoko-sensei’s voice. My eyes wander from one guy to another, but none of them suit my fancy. It’s not that I don’t like her lectures-- well some are boring, but that’s besides the point. I just have better things to do right now! Like looking for the perfect candidate, but I just can’t seem to find anyone suitable for the role. I’m not exactly sure what my criteria is. Everywhere I look, they all seem, well, boring -- black hair, black eyes, bored expressions, same hobbies -- too normal. I need someone who can entertain me. Someone who stands out. Someone...different. I almost jump up from my seat as Kayoko-sensei slams the chalk on the podium.
Kayoko-sensei “That’s the end of today’s lecture. Now remember that problems 15 through 23 are due tomorrow.”
The class groans as they pack their bags, shuffling in their seats. I sigh, and give one last glance across the room before giving up. Most of the students are either making their way to the door, or are already dashing through the hallways towards the cafeteria. In the end, perhaps this was all pointless. I heave a deep sigh.
Lex the Wizard Script
Mobile Game, Fantasy, Drama, Comedy
Creator: Marcus Maulucci
Narrator: In the dark forest, a tiny girl appears in the shadows. She’s about the size of a fairy, and she seems harmless, almost cute. Lex kneels down.
[curious] Lex: “Hello there. Who are you?”
[normal] Forest Spirit: “I’m a Geist of this Verdance. A forest spirit.” [sfx: magic glowing]
Narrator: She curtseyed, showing an adorable smile.
[curious] Forest Spirit: “And you?”
Narrator: Lex puffs his chest out in confidence with a huge grin.
[confident] Lex: “I’m Lex! And I’m on a mission.”
[curious] Forest Spirit: “Oh? And what are you searching for?”
Narrator: Lex’s chest deflates a bit and he sighs.
[sheepish] Lex: “A home, actually.”
[happy] Forest Spirit: “That’s perfect! I know of an abandoned house down the road. It would certainly be suitable for a cozy home for a vulnerable human.”
Red Eyes Sample Script
Visual Novel, Fantasy, Drama, Romance
Steve Narration: I opened my eyes and realized that it was pitch black around me; not even a hint of light was in the area. What was worse was that I swear there was no ground.
Steve Thoughts: I think I’m floating in space? Wait… what is this? How’d I get here? Who am I?
Steve Narration: My arms reached out on their own before my brain could even register what was happening. And yet, I felt nothing but air. Empty space. A void.
Steve Thoughts: Where...where am I?
Steve Narration: I started to panic as I realized the situation I was in. Every time I tried to think my brain hurt. It was like an invisible wall was pushing me away, leaving me completely empty.
Steve Thoughts: I wonder if this is the afterlife. If so, it’s quite different than what I imagined. I must have done something terrible to deserve this desolate place. That or I could have been evil to begin with. Maybe a serial killer? A thief? Oh I don’t know!
Steve Narration: My head started to throb again.
Autumn's World Script
Visual Novel, Romance, Slice of Life
These are the colors of Autumn.
The color palette that many call beautiful.
The season of change.
I stare at the dried up leaves, as they spiral to the ground. The trees, once full of vibrant colors, now covered with an ugly brown. The morning light shines through the bare branches, highlighting the path towards the Hokkaido Academy entrance.
This sight reminds me that everything is coming to an end soon.
It reminds me of change.
Untitled VN Sample Script
Visual Novel, Romance, Slice of Life, Drama
Creator: Cody Ross
Arriving back at my dorm room door, I turn the knob, realizing I forgot to lock my door with all the hecticness regarding Liz. As I open the door, a girl’s back faces me with long blonde strands of hair, gracefully styled. I sigh. Does anyone in this college have a sense of good manners?
Cody “Hey. You!”
The girl jolts, quickly turning around. Her large blue eyes look at me in confusion, before regaining a sense of composure. Her pale skin tone, gives the illusion of a princess.
Cody “W-what are you doing in my room?”
I stutter, mesmerized by her beauty. She gives me puzzled look.
??? “I was wondering the same thing. I do believe this is my room.”
I’m taken back by her words. They seem eloquent, and yet, I get a sense of conceitedness in the tone.
Cody “Room 201 right?”
